Teaching aims:

Students can grasp the usage of the words “forest, lake, river, mountain, hill”.

Students can master the sentence structure “Is there...?” and “Yes, there is. No, there isn’t.”

Ability aims:

Students can apply these words into the sentence pattern “Is there...?”by repeated practice.

Students can learn to talk about different things in the nature park.

Emotional aims:

Students learn to love the nature and have more interests and confidence in English learning.

Teaching key points and difficult points:

Key points:

Words: the meaning and the usage of the words such as "forest", "lake", "river" and "hill".

Target language: the sentence pattern: “Is there...” “Yes, there is” “ No, there isn’t.”

How to talk about different things in the nature park correctly and fluently as well as how to tell the differences between “river” and “lake”, “mountain” and “hill”.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Warm-up and Lead-in

Greet students as usual and invite students to enjoy the song In a Nture Park. And ask students to name the song by giving some guidances.

Step 2 Presentation and Practice

1.Words learning and practice

Show students the picture of a nature park, and ask them to describe things in picture, then introduce the new words. While teaching the new words, the teacher will use some actions and words to show the difference between river and lake, mountain and hill.

After teaching these words, the teacher can ask student to read the words in different ways, like read it twice or read it one by one. Then teacher can invite students to play a game "Let me try" to practice the words.

2.Sentence learning and practice

The teacher asks students to describe the nature park with the learned sentence pattern “there is...”, then guide students to identify the things in the picture by using the target language “ Is there” and guide them to answer it correctly.

After learning the sentence pattern, the teacher can play a game “Detective game” to ask and answer with the target sentences in pairs.

Step 3 Production

Ask students to design an ideal nature park for in groups, and then invite some students to stand in the platform with their design. Some other students are to guess by using the target language “Is there...” .The one standing on the platform can only answer by “Yes, there is.” Or “No, there isn’t”.

Step 4 Summary and homework

Summary: Invite one of the students to be "a little teacher" and lead others to review what we have learned together. I’ll tell them that we should love the nature and try to protect everything in the nature.

Homework: Ask students to introduce a nature park near their home.
