Be very careful about opening e-mail attachments.

　　Roger：How did you guess?
　　Hugh：Well, that's the main way viruses get in. You should be very careful about opening e-mail attachments, unless they're from someone you know.

　　休：嗯，病毒入侵，大多是这种方式。开启电邮附件必须十分小心，除非电邮是来自你认识的人。
　　E-mail或email是electronic mail的缩写，而缩写今天几乎已取代了全写，正如bra（乳罩）、pram（婴儿车）取代了brassiere、perambulator一样。
　　文法上，email和它的字根(root) mail也有了点分别。Mail（邮件）是不可数名词(uncountable noun)，所以，‘我收到十份邮件’不可译做I have received ten mails，只可说ten mail items； ‘我展读了所有邮件’不可译做I opened all the mails，只可说all the mail。Email既是不可数名词，也是可数名词(countable noun)，所以，你绝对可以说I have received ten emails、I opened all the email/emails等。Mail可解作‘邮政系统’，例如：I'll send it to you by/via air mail（我会用空邮寄给你）。Email也可以指电邮系统，介系词同样是用by或via，例如：Could you send it to me by/via email as an attachment?（请你用电邮以附件形式寄给我好吗？）
　　今天，电邮比传统邮件还要普遍。问人索取电邮地址，你可以说：Could I have your email address?（可以把你的电邮地址给我吗？）或What is your email address?（你的电邮地址是什么？）或What address do I email to?（我把电邮寄到哪里呢？）作动词，email和mail一样，可以带两个受词(object)，例如：(1) I emailed him the information (= I emailed the information to him我把资料用电邮寄给他）。(2) I emailed him about the matter（我致电邮给他谈论这件事）。(考试大外语编辑整理)
