《国务院关于修改〈全国年节及纪念日放假办法〉的决定》（2008年1月1日起施行）第二条规定，“全体公民放假的节日：……（五）端午节，放假一天（农历端午当日）……”据此，自2008年开始，端午节正式列入国家法定节日。在文化逐渐多元、信息日益丰富的今天，端午节等中国传统节日面临着不少挑战。这迫切需要人们与时俱进，既要保持传统，又要适应当今人们需要。
