Volunteers(志愿者)

Volunteers
Each nation has many good people who help to take care of others. For example, some high
school and college students in the United States often spend many hours as volunteers in hospitals, orphanages or homes for the aged. They read books to the peopie in these places,or they just visit them or listen to their problems. Other young volunteers go and work in the homes of people who are sick or old. They paint,clean up,or repair houses, do their shopping and mow their lawns. For boys who no longer have fathers there is an organization called Big Brothers. College students and other men take these boys to basketball games or on fishing trips and help them to get to know things that boys usually learn from their fathers.
Some cities have a number of clubs where boys and girls can go to play games or learn crafts. Some of these clubs show movies or organize short trips to the mountains,the beaches,museums or other places of interest. Most of these clubs use a lot of high school and college students as volunteers because they are young enough to remember the problems of younger boys and girls.
Volunteers believe that some of the happiest people in the world are those who help to bring happiness to others.

每个国家都有许多善良的人们帮助照顾别人。例如，美国的一些高中生和大学生经常花好多时间在医院、孤儿院或老人院做志愿者。在这些地方他们给别人读书，或只是看望他们或倾听他们的问题。另外一些青年志愿者则到病人或老人家中工作。他们涂刷墙面、清理卫生或修理房屋、帮助购物或修整草坪。对那些不再有父亲的男孩子，有一个被称作“兄弟联谊会”的组织。大学生或其他人带这些孩子参加篮球赛、外出钓鱼或帮助他们了解那些男孩子通常从父亲那儿学会的事情。
一些城市中拥有大量的俱乐部，男孩和女孩可以去那里玩游戏或学手艺。有些俱乐部还放映电影或组织短途旅行，比如爬山，游览海滩，参观博物馆或其他名胜。大部分俱乐部使用很多高中生和大学生作为志愿者，因为他们年轻，还记得更年幼的孩子们的问题。
志愿者相信世界上有一部分最幸福的人就是那些给别人带来快乐的人。
